Do Your Research! Information Literacy and Students in Today’s Information Landscape

Do Your Research! Information Literacy and Students in Today’s Information Landscape Online

In this workshop for HCCC faculty, Brooke Duffy, Director of Librarian Instruction, and Sarah Teichman, Research and Instruction Librarian, will guide participants through key information literacy (IL) concepts and practical strategies for integrating them into courses and assignments.
Librarians can also support these efforts through tailored IL instruction and support, including:

  • Library Instruction: Partnering with faculty to design and deliver one or more class sessions on IL concepts, incorporating hands-on activities to help students develop essential research and evaluative skills.
  • Customized Research Guides: Creating course-specific research guides aligned with assignments to help students effectively access and navigate resources.
  • Instructional Support: Assisting faculty in identifying or developing instructional tools that enhance IL instruction within a course.

By incorporating information literacy into coursework, faculty can empower students to critically engage with information in an increasingly complex landscape.
